The Fort Lauderdale Chapter is one of the oldest Pap Corps Chapters. The chapter dates back to when the organization was known as the “Papanicolaou Woman’s Corp for Cancer Research”. At that time, the organization was headquartered at the University of Miami Medical School. The chapter was called “The St. Demetrios Hellenic Cancer Unit”. Today, our chapter is comprised of men and women. Most are lifetime members. Fort Lauderdale is an open chapter and welcomes anyone who wants to join the fight against cancer.

John Ayvas was President of The Pap Corps/St. Demetrios 2005-2006. He was Person Of The Year 2006-2007. He was devoted to cancer research. Placing canisters in every restaurant, selling pens and praying for the cure. He worked tirelessly and was grateful to have the opportunity to be a small part of a great cause.
