Palm Beach society: Temptations singer headlines Pap Corps inaugural gala

The Pap Corps hosts its inaugural “Imagination” gala with headliners like A Temptations Revue featuring Theo Peoples, a former lead singer of the Temptations, at The Breakers.

Pap Corps supporters were in for a night of bubbles and tunes at the first-ever “Imagination” gala. The event raised more than $200,000 for The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research organization.

More than 125 people attended the gala at The Breakers. The evening kicked off with a Veuve Clicquot Champagne reception in the Magnolia Room accompanied by the classical and contemporary tunes of a saxophonist.

Dinner followed in the Circle Room featuring South African lobster tail with zucchini and sweet corn pudding, and the option of sliced beef tenderloin with a caramelized onion crust or a tender citrus Panko-crusted filet of sea bass with beurre blanc. Dessert included the hotel’s “Giant Martini Sundae” with vanilla, strawberry and chocolate Haagen-Dazs ice cream in a chocolate-dipped waffle cup replete with fluted chocolate cups of topping including M&Ms, toffee bites, mini marshmallows, candied nuts and purple rock sugar – a nod to The Pap Corps brand color.

CEO David Bakelman and board of directors member Beverly Berkowitz thanked guests and supporters for their commitment before the evening’s speaker took the stage. After Dr. Craig Moskowitz’s talk, emcee Rob Russell conducted a live auction including a diamond-studded necklace, personal in-home wine dinners and concert experiences.

The gala’s highlight was the entertainment: A Temptations Revue featuring Theo Peoples, a former lead singer of the Temptations, who took the stage and performed chart-topping songs such as “My Girl” to “Just My Imagination.”

Guests at the March 5 event included Chris Cole, Amanda Bartlett, Stanton Collemer, Geoff Fear, Virginia and John Gildea, Suzy Goldsmith, Arlette Gordon, Lisa and David Gulley, Janet and Mark Levy, Margrit Bessenroth, Richard Lynn, Kyle Meredith, Sarah and Jonathan Negrin, Frank Orenstein, Gail Worth, Amanda and Curtis Polk, and Renee and Donald Scott.
